Bun & Grill Co. Food Court Buildout, Kenwood

    Retail

    Project Overview

Taking over a restaurant space someone else built? Skip the gut job. RCG built out Bun & Grill Co. in the Kenwood Towne Centre food court in Cincinnati, between Sbarro and Charleys, and made an existing kitchen theirs: a new solid-surface counter across the whole front, with power built in, new epoxy floors, walls degreased and refinished, and the plumbing and electrical their equipment needed. The work stayed behind a curtain at the storefront while the rest of the food court kept serving. Bun & Grill Co. is open now, serving burgers and dogs.

    The Challenge

A new restaurant moving into a kitchen that still looked like the last tenant's, in a food court that never closes. The old counter and casework had to come out, the old epoxy floor had to come up, every wall needed degreasing, and the new counter and cook line needed power and plumbing, all a few feet from neighbors serving customers.

    Our Solution

RCG ran the buildout as general contractor and kept it behind the storefront curtain, so shoppers saw a coming-soon banner instead of a jobsite. The old counter and casework came out. The existing epoxy was ground off the floors and a new epoxy coating went down. Every wall was degreased and cleaned, and the drywall was patched and finished in two coats of Sherwin-Williams Pre-Cat epoxy. Out front, a new solid-surface countertop on new base cabinets runs the length of the storefront, with outlets built in and fed from the circuits that served the old counter. In back, RCG made the plumbing connections and added a dedicated 208-volt circuit under the hood for the new equipment.

    Results & Outcomes

Bun & Grill Co. is open in the Kenwood Towne Centre food court, between Sbarro and Charleys.

A new front counter wired for service, new floors, refinished walls, and plumbing and power for the new equipment, without tearing out the kitchen.

The food court stayed open for the whole job.
